Evaluation??

My media product is based around the genre Electronica / Alternative Rock. My music video puts across vital parts of both genres by using Electro instruments in film (mixers, Cdj’s) while at the same time using guitars, I feel this gives a good continuity between the 2 genres as separate things which have come into one. In my opinion the songs meaning is more important as the genre as the lyrics and production are the key element, rather than the genre which as little to compare to as there is only a small group who follow this genre.
I tried to make the songs meaning come across strong with a variety of effects throughout. I have tried to re-create what the lyrics refer to, which is basically drugs and insecurity, I feel the effects are a good representation of drugs by using a clean set of video clips to give the realism I need and then automating the effects within final cut to give it a ‘trippy’ feel.
This is one example of using something new within this genre. Most videos I have seen rely on story lines or the artists performing, I have tried to make an interesting video using general interpretations.
This should work effectively to the songs main audience as it gives something new and different to all the other products within the market at this time. Here is some audience feedback (see my next post)

My main product and ancillary reflect each other well as I have used the images from my dig pack and poster within my music video as animations. I have done this so that the audience will relate the products together and recognise them as a group and not separate products. If I where to distribute this product I would do it through the Internet rather than record shops. I would give all big high street names permission to sell the product in store but only for the bands promotion, maximizing the profit to be made on distribution and records.
Over 70% of the British public have an internet connection based on a government statistic done in early 2009, this makes a huge audience to advertise to, particularly considering the internet is an international means of advertising. 175 million users where registered on the social networking sight facebook this year, this is a 10th of the worlds population and I feel that it could be used as one of the key elements in promoting and advertising. I would keep stock for audience ordering digipacks to be delivered to there households aswell as making internet downloads available through sites such as itunes, digital tunes, beats digital and many others. Also making each download have a separate encryption minimizing the chances of illegal downloads.

7/10, cause im not fond of guitar music, but I don't find it boring, and thats saying something cause i've got a short attention span and I like the colours (: x

Adam Brunyee
thats pretty good i enjoyed that. awesome effects, the overall trippyness was pretty damn trippy. seeing ibbo un-fall over was quite amusing. i guess my main criticism would be maybe overdoing it with the effects and that i didnt really understand what was happening but i dont think i was meant to so thats all cool. so yeah, i thought it was good, nice one.

Emily Wise

8 out of 10. Good choice of song you've just got to love Linkin' Park. Quite an interesting use of camera angles. The special effects really did it for me although there were a few too many. I didn't pick up on a plotline but then again i don't know if you intended to have one lol. Hope that's enough feedback. Overall its a good video, good effort with various use of effects, shots, and angles. For improvement i'd have widened the location choices. Well done

Karl Walters
9/10 like all the different colors and the camera effects, best of all........im loving the denon's. good work.

Thom Ibbotson
I really liked the symmetry between the video effects and drug effects, yet i think there were a bit too many which caused your narrative to suffer as the storyline became hard to follow. The effects you have used are brilliant, as is the video itself.

Savannah Colclough
very trippy :)
its awsome, love the song
gooood work :D

Lauren Burton
i liked it :) there are lots of effects, but if thats intentional to simulate drug effects then it works well. i like the bit with thom on the road, its really weird watching someone fall up. and i like the effect of making it look like the camera is moving towards thom on the road. the house changing colour is quite pretty haa. Your nails are far too short its weird. 9/10 :)

Abby Hartley
9.5/10 :) i like when thoms goingdown that path + it goes backwards with the shiny lights, the effects are cool + i like the bit where theres loads of thom at the house :)
